bill cunningham.

a little reflection on an icon… Bill Cunningham was spotted at many galas and events i’ve created florals and decor for… always arriving on his bicycle wearing his signature blue jacket.  i’ll miss his quiet yet joyful presence around NYC… but know that he will always be watching through his lens.

honored to have my florals in the same frame with him here at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden Gala 2014.

peanut.

peanut was a rescue that C & A took in as a foster originally… she was so sweet that she ended up a permanent part of the family.

i think back to when i was a dog walker in NYC and the dogs i’ve walked…i used to document them with my camera back in the film days ( showing my age ) before cell phones and digital cameras were a thing.  those were great days wandering around the city that was my new home.

#thedogsivewalked

week one.

i emptied the apartment i’ve lived in for 15 years of all of the contents. storage. art/work studio. mom’s. donations. stoop sale. giveaways. and there it is… an empty shell.

gone…but not too far.  grand plans sometimes get sidelined when life throws you curve balls.  with one plan in progress another was unfolding.

sidebar: i often struggle with what to share. how personal do i get in such a public forum. the balance between what happens in real life and the story that is written.

the last 10 days have been a whirlwind:

a dr. appt./ moving day/ an uncle passed away ( the cool uncle who you still remember had a white firebird when you were a kid )/ a giant wedding to produce/ a lot of  admin and design decks to catch up on & a little surgical procedure as the lady parts are misbehavin’ and here we are… resting in red hook.

waking up…

in strange and not so strange places.  a lot is happening these days and i am one very lucky gal surrounded by the most incredible family and friends.

as this adventure kicks off i am staying in red hook brooklyn with V and her two adorable doxies.

a recurring journal entry will be “waking up in strange and not so strange places” so here we go!
